Terms & Conditions

Plain English summary: We set up a private AI server for you. You own your server and your data. You pay for your VPS server and Anthropic directly for ongoing costs. We charge a one-time setup fee. We're not responsible if third-party services (Anthropic, Contabo, Amazon, Hostinger, Telegram etc.) change their terms or go down. Be a good human — don't use Mr. Fox for anything illegal or harmful.
1. Acceptance of terms
By joining our waitlist, purchasing a setup, or using any HeyMrFox service, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.
These terms apply to all visitors, waitlist members, and customers of HeyMrFox, operated by Esther Knoetze.
2. What we provide
HeyMrFox provides a one-time private AI setup service. By purchasing, you are paying for human engineering hours for the manual configuration and security hardening of open-source software onto your own hardware. You are not purchasing a software license, a SaaS subscription, or a digital download from us.
Specifically, we:
- Provision and configure a private Linux VPS server on your own VPS hosting account
- Install and configure OpenClaw software with strict security hardening
- Configure your personalised Mr. Fox AI assistant
- Connect Mr. Fox to your Telegram account
- Provide a handover guide and credentials
Once setup is complete, the hardware and data belong entirely to you. We have no ongoing obligation to maintain or monitor your server unless you engage us separately for support at our hourly rate.
3. What you are responsible for
After setup, you are solely responsible for:
- Your VPS account — payments, renewals, and any changes you make
- Your Anthropic API key — costs, usage limits, and compliance with Anthropic's terms
- Your Telegram account — and the bot you create in BotFather
- Server security — we harden the server during setup but cannot guarantee ongoing security if you make changes
- Backups — we do not provide backup services
- Compliance — ensuring your use of AI complies with applicable laws in your jurisdiction
4. Payments and refunds
All payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to their terms of service.
- Setup fee — A one-time flat fee charged for our technical labor and setup services
- Refund policy — We offer a full refund if we are unable to complete your setup. Because this fee covers manual engineering labor, no refunds are available once the setup is confirmed complete and the service has been delivered
- Ongoing costs — VPS hosting (~$4–8/month) and Anthropic API usage are paid directly by you to those providers. We have no control over their pricing
- Support — billed at our current hourly rate, confirmed before any work begins
5. Third-party services
HeyMrFox relies on third-party services that we do not control:
- Anthropic — provides the Claude AI model. Subject to Anthropic's usage policies and terms
- VPS Server Provider — provides VPS hosting. Subject to their own terms of service
- Telegram — provides the messaging interface. Subject to Telegram's terms of service
- OpenClaw — the open-source software powering the AI gateway
We are not responsible for changes to third-party services, pricing, availability, or terms. If Anthropic changes its API policies or your VPS Service Provider changes its pricing, we cannot be held liable. We recommend reviewing each provider's terms directly.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Mr. Fox or any HeyMrFox service to:
- Generate illegal content of any kind
- Harass, threaten, or harm any person
- Create or distribute malware, spam, or phishing content
- Infringe intellectual property rights
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Circumvent Anthropic's usage policies
Violation of these terms may result in termination of any ongoing relationship with HeyMrFox without refund.
7. Intellectual property
The HeyMrFox brand, website, Mr. Fox character, and setup methodology are the intellectual property of Esther Knoetze. You may not reproduce, resell, or redistribute our setup scripts, guides, or processes without written permission.
OpenClaw is open-source software — its licence terms apply separately and are available at the OpenClaw GitHub repository.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We provide this service "as is" without warranties of any kind
- We are not liable for any loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from use of our service
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us for setup
- We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or service changes by any VPS Server Provider, Anthropic, or Telegram
9. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of South Africa, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify customers of significant changes by email. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
